2013-2014 Undergraduate Catalog - Belmont University

Pre- Pharmacy Programs

Belmont University provides a number of different options for undergraduate students considering a career in the field of Pharmacy. Specific undergraduate majors can be selected leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, in the disciplines of Biology with a pre-pharmacy emphasis, Chemistry with a Pre-Health emphasis, or Pharmaceutical Studies, which allow the students to meet requirements for admission for many pharmacy programs. Students looking at specific Pharm. D. programs should check the admission requirements for those individual schools / programs and plan accordingly with additional course work to ensure that all admission requirements for that graduate school have been met.

Admission into Belmont's graduate Pharmacy program (Pharm. D.) is competitive. Students interested in Belmont's program should work closely with their undergraduate advisors, and be aware of the minimum requirements for application to a Pharm. D. Program.  Students do have the option to apply to the Belmont graduate program after completing a minimum of 64 credit hours in the specific curriculum requirements outlined in the graduate catalog.

The College of Pharmacy at Belmont University offers an Early Assurance Program to the PharmD for qualified freshman applicants.  Please check the College of Pharmacy website for more information (http://www.belmont.edu/pharmacy/admissions/pathway.html).  Pre-pharmacy students who do not meet the Early Assurance requirements are still eligible and are encouraged to apply for admission to Belmont’s PharmD program at the appropriate time.
