Medical Imaging Technology
In conjunction with the School of Allied Health of Vanderbilt University, Belmont University offers a B.S. degree in Medical Imaging Technology.
Students who wish to complete Belmont University’s Medical Imagining Technology (IMT) program must complete at least 64 hours at Belmont to be eligible for application to the Vanderbilt portion of the program. Students will apply to the Belmont faculty coordinator in the last semester of their sophomore year. With the university coordinator’s approval, the student will be eligible to make application to the Vanderbilt program from Belmont University. Students must register for courses at Belmont University while attending clinicals at Vanderbilt University to be eligible for a B.S. degree upon completion of their clinical work. Students must complete 16 credit hours in the fall semester, 16 hours in the spring, and then a zero-credit course in their last summer of matriculation. During the course of the program, students will receive grades of “IP” until final completion of the program. The program coordinator will submit all grades each term. Applications require a formal background check, paid for by the student in the second semester of the junior year. Graduation from Belmont with a major in IMT requires acceptance into the Vanderbilt program and successful completion of all its academic requirements.
Background checks are now required 21 days before registration for Medical Imaging Technology courses. Contact the instructor for details regarding the approved process.

1 The technical requirements and the first 16 hours of physics coursework in the minor are required for admission to the Vanderbilt portion of the program.
2 BIO 2230 can be substituted in the General Education Core if one of the other options in the Biological Sciences General Education menu has not already been taken. In either case, BIO 2230 is required.
3 These courses are the minimum mathematics requirements. Higher-level mathematics courses such as MTH 1150, MTH 1210, or MTH 1220 may be taken as indicated by the mathematics placement exam.
